LOGOS TRADING POST - PASS ALONG SCRIPTURE CARD ASSORTMENTS

Made to Encourage One Another

Paul writes to the church in 1 Thessalonians 5:11, “Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” It is an absolute blessing to have the opportunity to encourage one another, and it is our great joy to offer these cards such that they can be used to encourage others through scripture.

The Church does not stand alone; the Church is a collective of God’s faithful believers. As such, the Church does not only depend on God, but He has made it such that its members may depend on one another. This makes the members of the Church being parts of a great body an apt analogy, one present in many of Paul’s New Testament epistles. After all, God is good, and the encouragement He offers is perfect in every way. Still, we must consider this from the perspective of 1 John 4:12, which says, “No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.” God has chosen to reveal Himself and His love through our love for one another. At the end of the day, we are all the image of God, and giving encouragement to one another allows us to shine His light and let Him be seen more clearly.

Encouraging One Another Through Scripture

All that said, it makes sense that a very powerful way to encourage one another is through scripture, whether it be through coming together and experiencing God’s as a group or it be something as simple as giving a pass along scripture card to someone as a blessing. In any case, it is important that we listen closely, letting the words of scripture light our path and letting the Holy Spirit guide us on our way.

First, the more familiar we are with scripture, whether it be through the aid of scripture memory cards or simply through the repeated reading of the Bible itself, the more prepared we will be to give others God’s perfect insight for any specific situation. Of course, this is a blessing for our own situations as well, as God can bring to our remembrance the words He has spoken to all who believe in Him.

Next, the more familiar we are with the Holy Spirit, God’s third personhood and presence dwelling within all who have placed their faith in Him, the more we are equipped to encourage in a tailored way. The Holy Spirit makes known to us the thoughts of God, and God knows the inner thoughts stirring within each and every one of our hearts. What we mean to say, then, is that the Spirit aids in our connection with others. If we listen, He can help bring unity to His Church. If we allow His gentle voice to be heard, we can understand more clearly what the brother or sister in Christ across from us really needs in that moment.

These concepts are why we have developed assortments of our pass along scripture cards. These sort of scripture cards can definitely be blessing for your own soul, but they can be great in their effect when used as pass along scripture cards. Now, we all learn from the same Bible, the very same Words of God - distinct in translation though they may be. Let us not forget Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, which says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” However, we are all in a unique set of circumstances and at our own place on our Christian journey, so there is value to blessing others with the perfect passage of scripture for them in their particular situation.

How to Speak With One Another

Let us consider what Paul wrote to the Ephesians in Ephesians 5:18b-20, which says, “Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Well said! We can further understand our call to encourage one another with God’s words when we consider these verses from Ephesians alongside Colossians 4:6, which says, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” When we take all of this in, we can realize that it is not only a good thing to share with others the words of scripture, it can even be said that it is our responsibility!

Being Blessed Through Blessing

However, also remember that it is not only the person you share scripture with that is being blessed; you are blessed through the process as well! A Jewish proverb says, “It’s better to give one shekel a thousand different times than a thousand shekels at once, because each time you give, you become a kinder person.” Giving to others effectively makes us a giver, and this is only more true the more that we do it. Through our actions, God speaks to our heart, changes us, and teaches us to be more like Christ in every way. We think this is a great aspect of our pass along scripture cards; they are, in their nature, small blessings, but that means they are blessings that can be given over and over to many different people, getting us accustomed to sharing scripture and blessing others.
