This Russian Orthodox cross features Saint Andrew's Cross in the middle, with the Greek abbreviation "King of Glory" over it. To the left of the cross is a spear, meant to represent the spear the Romans used on Jesus after he was crucified. To the right is the sponge with which they gave him the vinegar.

The Saint Andrew Cross is a three-barred cross ubiquitous in the symbolism of Eastern traditions. According to tradition, the Apostle Andrew used this cross in Southern Russia as a representative lesson. The topmost bar signifies the plaque put above the head of Jesus on the cross. The tilted bar on the bottom is meant to serve as a reminder of the Final judgement, and to always be on the upper side of it.
