Reminders of God’s Assurance

God is good and He is full of love. He always has our best interest in mind. He is our protector and the source of our strength. These are the truths that serve as the foundation for the scripture we’ve selected for our Christian bookmarks on the subject of assurance. We can always count in God in every hardship and circumstance, and we at Logos Trading Post wanted to create a collection of Bible bookmarks that could help people remember that truth every day. God always has our back, but sometimes we need a reminder of that comforting truth. Proverbs 30:5 says, “Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Since the promises of God are always true 100% of the time, this collection has Bible verse bookmarks with words that you can stand confidently upon.

What is “Assurance?”

“Assurance,” for the sake of our Bible bookmarks, at least, is the trust that God will come through. Our faith is one thing - trusting Him and who He is - but assurance has to do with His faithfulness to us. Assurance is trusting that God keeps the promises He has made all throughout scripture. He is the bastion of our hope, so trust! Peter says in 1 Peter 2:6, “For it stands in Scripture: ‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.’” It is never a waste to trust God. Ask any believer; He always comes through, albeit perhaps at a time we didn’t expect.

What are God’s Promises?

Of course, we have assurance that our faith in not in vain, because He is faithful to keep His promises. What exactly are those promises, however? We thought we would chronicle here some of the promises that God has made throughout scripture - promises that you can stand confidently upon. Wherever you find yourself in life, consider these; at least one of them will bring you greater peace in your situation, if you believe it.

Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Whatever else happens, we can trust that God’s plans for us are plans for a future of welfare and hope. It is okay to be upset, but keeping this verse in practice looks like accepting that, no matter what hardship you may experience, God is taking you to a wonderful future. Trust Him that His plan is on the way!

1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” God forgives, no matter what, if you open yourself up to Him and confess to Him. It is not His goal to destroy the sinful. If it was, we would all be done for, for Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God, however, perfectly encompasses a burning hatred for sin and an enduring compassion for those afflicted by it. He wants to free us from sin, not smite us for it. This is why Jesus paid the price for our redemption: we now have the freedom to approach God, ask for forgiveness, and be forgiven both legally and lovingly. Trust Him that His desire is to forgive you for all that you have done!

Psalm 23:1-4 says, “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me.”

This one is twofold. Let’s start with the end of verse 1: “There is nothing I lack.” God is faithful to meet all of your needs. Sometimes we may not have everything we feel we want, but be assured that your needs are taken care of. Jesus says in Matthew 6:25-26, “This is why I tell you, don’t worry about your life, what you eat or what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the sky: They don’t sow or reap or gather into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they?”

Second comes what is possibly the simplest, yet most profound promise yet. Verse 4 says, “You are with me.” If you don’t remember any other promise that God has made, remember this: He will always be with you. No matter where you go in life, you can count on Him to be right beside you, encouraging you and giving you the strength to press on. Trust that He is with you and He will meet all of your needs!

What Does All of This Have to Do with Christian Bookmarks?

Now, the passages of scripture listed above are barely even a fraction of the God’s promises that have been made in the Bible. That is why it is very important to us at Logos Trading Post that we use our platform to encourage believers to engage with scripture ever more often. One way to get more exposed to the promises of God is by finding them in the Bible and meditating upon them (perhaps even using the bookmarks on this page as Bible bookmarks), but another way is by surrounding yourself with items that have passages of scripture written on them. Each Bible verse bookmark of ours has a unique design and passage of scripture on it so that everyone can be encouraged by a portion of scripture that’s just right for them, so take a look! Get some for yourself or be a blessing to others. Whatever the case, we hope our simple Christian bookmarks reassure you that God is faithful to keep His promises!
