That said, allow us to walk you through a couple of our most popular categories of items: our signature Holy Land Olive Wood products and our Christian Bookmarks & Scripture Cards. Holy Land Olive Wood

First, let’s discuss our Holy Land Olive Wood products, called by that moniker because they are made using genuine olive wood from no other place than Israel.

The olive tree is a significant symbol in the Bible and was an important part of life in the Old Testament Promised Land. It is often used to describe God’s blessing and His nature as a good provider for His people, with a good example of this being found in Paul’s writing in Romans 11:16b-18, which says, “If the root is holy, so are the branches. But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.” We could dive into this verse and meditate upon it for a while, but the point for now is that the olive tree is a symbol used to describe God supporting us, mere branches, by His might.

However, the symbolism involved in the olive tree is not the only reason that we have chosen to use Holy Land Olive Wood. Even to this day, it is an important part of commerce in the Holy Land, with the olives being used to make a variety of products like olive oil or anointing oil, and the wood being used to make a variety as well. We are happy to engage with this economy through our own Holy Land Olive Wood products, using our business to support the businesses of our fellow Christian brothers and sisters native to the Holy Land. Specifically, the artisans we work with have developed the craft of olive wood carving for a number of years in the town of Bethlehem, the birthplace of the Savior. Who better to share His story and the truths of scripture through the work of their hands? As such, it is our joy to not only support these local believers, but we also prayerfully dedicate a portion of our proceeds from these products to supporting the spread of the gospel in their area - the Holy Land - as well as in the Middle East as a whole.

Christian Bookmarks & Scripture Cards

Next up, we also have our Christian bookmarks and scripture cards. Whether used as a Bible bookmark or otherwise, our Christian bookmarks are printed as full-size bookmarks with full-color, Biblically inspired designs, while our scripture cards are smaller, more so designed as small encouragements to pass on to others. In the case of both of these products, however, we always ensure they are inspired by scripture, oftentimes bearing the words of the Bible directly. This is not the only thing that sets apart our Christian bookmarks and Scripture cards, however!

Though they are not printed in Bethlehem, where our Holy Land Olive Wood items are carved, we do feel there is significance in where they originate nonetheless. We work with printers in Antioch of modern-day Turkey, a city of great Biblical significance and with great implications for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. Antioch is the first stop of  the apostle Paul’s first missionary journey, making it very significant in the narrative of the gospel spreading throughout the Greek Mediterranean and the Middle East.

In modern-day, we believe Antioch is a strategic place for us to work with believers such that the gospel can be further spread through the Middle East. They continue to provide us with a great variety of faith-inspired Christian bookmarks and scripture cards, and they even have taken to making fabric bookmarks using traditional Turkish weaving techniques. We are happy to help their business grow through ours, and just as it is with our Holy Land Olive Wood products, we are also happy to dedicate a portion of our proceeds from these items toward missionary efforts to spread the gospel in the Middle East.

Our Role as Logos Trading Post

All in all, at Logos Trading Post, we are glad to give nothing short of the highest honor to missionaries, advancing the Kingdom of God where the light is dim. Still, we know that we have a job to do as a business as well. Paul makes it clear, writing in Romans 10:13-15, “‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on him in whom they have no believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” We may not be going to the Middle East ourselves at this time, but we can still make a difference there, using our business to make a difference and support those preaching the gospel there.
