LOGOS TRADING POST - PRAYER BOOKMARKS

The Power in Our Prayers

Prayer is immeasurably powerful; the most powerful tool humanity has been given by God. It is powerful enough for Joshua to stop the rotation of the Earth, strong enough for Samson to bring down a false god’s temple, mighty enough to save Daniel from a den of lions, vast enough to connect the Father in heaven and Jesus on Earth, and the list goes on. That last one is especially significant because it speaks to the role of prayer in the life of you and every believer in the world.

Thanks to the sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus, prayer is a means of connecting with God and making known our requests. The resurrected savior now sits at the right hand of the Father. In His position, He is our advocate and our high priest. When we pray, God listens as He would listen to His own child. Indeed, Jesus has given us the opportunity to be children of God, and as Jesus Himself has said in Luke 11:11-13, “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”

We need have no fear, then, when we pray, and we ask God for what our heart hopes for. We are not approaching a foreign, heartless entity, but a God of love who has aligned us as part of His own family. Of Jesus, the author of Hebrews says in Hebrews 4:15-16, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” To put it shortly, then, prayer is an opportunity to for our human needs and wants can meet the humanity of Jesus and the limitless power of God.

The opportunity to pray is a great blessing that ought to not be taken for granted. We can have confidence, because we have a God who loves us and who listens. After all, doesn’t Philippians 4:6-7 encourage us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Our Christian Bookmarks and the Discipline of Prayer

Despite the wonderful power and privilege of prayer, many of us often neglect to engage in conversation with God. It can be difficult; prayer with God can be as comfortable as any conversation, but it can feel unusual at first speaking with someone you don’t see and who doesn’t always speak back. Nonetheless, prayer is not only something believers can rejoice that they have, but it is also something they need! This is why prayer has been called a spiritual discipline; if we - along with the Holy Spirit that lives within - can engage in self-discipline and create a habit of prayer, the act of communing with God can begin to come much more naturally.

That is where our heart is as far as our Bible bookmarks on prayer are concerned. We hope that all of our products may enrich your faith in some way, but some are designed specifically to support you in the habit of prayer - such as our Holy Land Olive Wood comfort crosses or, of course, these Christian bookmarks all about prayer.

These three Bible bookmarks are designed with selected scriptures to remind anyone who sees them of both the nature and purpose of prayer. Whether they are used specifically as Bible bookmarks while studying scripture or if you simply place them in any book, we hope that every time you open up to them, they will remind you of the truth that we can all boldly approach the throne of grace and make our requests known to God in any situation.

Our Bible Bookmarks on Prayer

Since we’ve specifically chosen three of them for this page, we’ll take a moment to go into depth about each one of these Bible verse bookmarks. The first actually contains a passage of scripture we already mentioned earlier, Philippians 4:6-7! Of course, sometimes the troubles of life can overwhelm us, but we hope this Christian bookmark give people an opportunity to repeatedly see this verse, remembering all the while that we don’t need to worry, because we have a God who listens.

Next, there’s our Bible verse bookmark bearing Psalm 19:14, in which the Psalmist says a prayer of sorts, writing, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” At times, it can be difficult to know exactly what we wish to say to God, but that’s entirely normal. Some find comfort in speaking aloud the prayers that others have prayed before them, and that is in no way less meaningful. The verse on this particular Bible verse bookmark is a great thing to pray, as it is a great joy to please God and bring Him glory.

Finally, we have a Bible verse bookmark with 1 Thessalonians 5:18 on it, which says, “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” We mustn’t think of prayer as only a way to ask for what we want, it is also an opportunity to share with God how thankful we are for what He has already done. He loves us, and He is more than happy to see us take notice of what He’s done for us; we hope this Bible verse bookmark helps remind believers of that every day.

Of course, whether specifically one of these three bookmarks or any other, we are pleased for the opportunity to provide you with a product that strengthens your faith and supports you in prayer. Thank you for considering us!
