LOGOS TRADING POST - SCRIPTURE BOOKMARKS

Why Read the Word of God?

This is a collection of Bible verse bookmarks specifically featuring scriptures that involve the Word declaring its own effectiveness. We could write all day trying to explain what is so special about the Word of God, but if you’re reading this, you probably already have some kind of idea! Therefore, instead of bogging you down with a long-winded explanation, we’ll compile here scriptures that demonstrate the worth of reading and studying the Bible.

Hebrews 4:12 - The Living and Active Word

Hebrews 4:12 says, For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Logos Trading Post actually already has written a fairly in-depth article about this verse, and it can be found on the general Christian Bookmarks page. That said, if you want the short and sweet of it. God’s Word, the Bible, is living and active, meaning that there is always something new to be gleaned from it and that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, it can evaluate, challenge, and encourage you from the inside out in a way that no other book truly can.

2 Timothy 3;15-17 - The Wisdom for Salvation and the Profitable Word

2 Timothy 3:15-17 says, “And how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” The word is a source of wisdom for us, wisdom that directs us to faith in Jesus. As deep as our faith may be, the scriptures develop wisdom in us that strengthens that salvific faith in Him. To put it simply, the word makes us stronger for God. It can be used to teach, correct, and train us. God has given us a mission to be His presence, make disciples, and do good on the earth; luckily, through the scriptures, He has given us the means to be “competent, equipped for every good work.”

Romans 15:4 - Encouragement and Hope from the Word

Romans 15:4 says, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.” The word not only makes us stronger and more faithful, but it also gives us the hope that it is all for a purpose. God knows all things and he knows exactly what it takes to make us greater for His Kingdom, but the humanity of Jesus makes Him able to see us where we are. In reference to Jesus, Hebrews 4:15 says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tested in every way as we are, yet without sin.” He knows that we not only need faith and power, but we also need hope and encouragement; because of that, His word is good for all of these things!

Joshua 1:8 - The Prosperous Word

Joshua 1:8 says, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” The Word isn’t without promise, though! God has promised us that if we are faithful to learn the scriptures through consistent meditation so that we can be faithful to live according to what it says, success is bound to come. However, both understanding the word and living it out are key. After all, James 1:22 says, “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only. Otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.” We must make the Word a consistent part of our lives, both in mind and in action; if we do, we will have a prosperous way. This prosperity may not look exactly how you expect, but God is faithful, and it will be prosperity nonetheless.
John 1:14 - The True Identity of the Word

John 1:14 says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” Everything said above fails to compare to this. The best part of understanding the Word is that knowing the Word means knowing Jesus. The scriptures reveal who He is, and to know Him is the meaning of life!

What Does All of This Have to Do with Bible Bookmarks?

All of this is only the beginning of why you should take the time to make scripture a consistent part of your life, but we hope to have enriched your faith with our writing. We want you to know what you’re in for when you purchase one of our Christian bookmarks. We want to help get scripture before people every day; one way to do that is to encourage others to read the Word (perhaps even using our bookmarks as Bible bookmarks), and an alternate way is by offering products that have scripture on them.

Our bookmarks are no exception to this. All of our Christian bookmarks are Biblically based and covered in scripture references, such that each Bible verse bookmark might serve you as yet another opportunity to experience the faith-building, heart-strengthening, wisdom-instilling, power of God’s Word. Further, this is why we are primarily focused on bulk bookmarks / wholesale bookmarks, so that we can accomplish this goal through wholesale businesses and through people who simply have a heart for blessing others by giving them away. Whatever your circumstance, we hope our Bible bookmarks help you and help others experience the Word of God even more often!
