The Word of God

In Philippians 4:8, Paul tells readers, “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” This is good advice; the way you think has influence on how you live. Even more specific, though, is the instruction given to Joshua on Joshua 1:8, “The Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all this is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” To add, the Psalmist of Psalm 104:34 says, “May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the Lord.” So, we are not only encouraged to think about positive, commendable, and meaningful things, but we are also given a positive, commendable, and meaningful thing we can direct our thinking toward: “The Book of the Law” and, by natural extension, the Word of God. God is more than pleased when we study and meditate upon His Word, as it is His gift to us.

In fact, it is even more than that; it is how He has chosen to communicate with those who believe in Him.

Christian Bookmarks, Scripture, and the Renewal of the Mind

We believe that God’s Word is more than just words on the page. After all, didn’t God use His Words to bring all of creation into being in Genesis 1? The Word is powerful, and reading it, dwelling on it, and acting on it can be transformational in a very positive way. Paul implores readers in Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

To renew our minds in this manner, it is important that we connect with scripture always and often. At Logos Trading Post, we are on mission for the Kingdom of God in many ways, but the primary goal of our Christian bookmarks as a ministry is that they would encourage those using them to read their Bibles every day. In fact, at the bottom of many of our Bible bookmarks is the printed encouragement to “Read your Bible daily.” Using a Bible verse bookmark from us as a Bible bookmark increases the opportunity for scripture to reach your heart, but even if you were to use these bookmarks in other books instead, every single one of the Christian bookmarks we have for sale is Biblically focused. Thus, even if, through the hustle of daily life, your Bible verse bookmark is your only exposure to God’s Word on any given day, that’s still one more experience with scripture that you would have had otherwise.

The nature of these Christian bookmarks also encourages memorization. Each Bible verse bookmark has a concise, but deeply meaningful and / or encouraging passage of God’s Word on it. Whether for kids or adults, Bible verse bookmarks are an excellent tool for getting scripture memorized, thus contributing to the book of Romans’ idea of “the renewal of your mind.”

Christian Bookmarks and Access to God’s Word

With all of these Bible bookmarks we have available and with all of this discussion of continually reading and meditating upon the Bible, we must not forget how wonderful a thing it is to have access to God’s Word.

The Almighty God has communicated in many ways throughout history - dreams, stone tablets, a voice in the flames, writings on the wall, angelic visitations, and the incarnation of His Son to name a few. However, most recently - as recent as the last 2000 years or so - His primary means of communication has been the Bible in tandem with the Holy Spirit in the hearts of believers. That said, it is productive to recontextualize the Bible as much more than just a good book; it is how God has chosen to speak to and reveal Himself to believers in the present day! We must remind ourselves that if we have a Bible or access to scripture through any means, it is a precious privilege.

Indeed, this opportunity becomes even more precious when we realize there are many that do not have access to the Word of God whatsoever. Even if our Bible bookmarks are the only access you have to the words of scripture, you are indeed blessed. In reality, though, if you’re reading this page, odds are you have access to a myriad of Bible translations on the internet. There are many people all around the world with no internet connection, and - far worse - there are many people with languages the Bible hasn’t even been translated into yet. Giving you guilt is not our goal on this matter, far from it! We just want to remind our fellow believers how precious a thing it is to be able to experience God’s Word; this is the heart behind our Christian bookmarks.

Still, perhaps we did start a bit of a fire in you. Bible translation and the broadening of Bible accessibility are significant ministries, and perhaps they’re something you wish to be a part of. There are many organizations that specialize in getting the God’s word to more and more people, and we would encourage you to research them.

However, while you’re here, we would like to let you know that our Christian bookmarks are made in Antioch of present-day Turkey. Surely, we could have had our Bible bookmarks made more cheaply elsewhere, but it was our goal to choose strategically. By having some of our products made in Turkey - and by extension the Middle East - we are supporting the development of Christian business in the area. Further, a portion of our proceeds support the spread of the Gospel in the Middle East, and this paves the way for greater accessibility to God’s Word for a greater variety of people. Every Bible verse bookmark that we sell makes a difference, so please do consider us. We consider ourselves blessed to have a chance to bless you with a quality product and a chance to make a difference in the world.
